I always wondered about the power of food. I mean we all know food is nourishment and sustenance.
Food is comfort. The hearty feeling of a nice warm soup on a winters day or a bowl of macaroni and cheese.
Food is the elixir of life.
But looking at the world around me sometimes I think food is also a destructive force. Let me explain
As human beings we tend to take things that are wholesome and used for positivity and invert them.
Humans have opposable thumbs that allow us to build tools and structures that allow us to control our environment. But those tools can also be used to maim and kill like a gun. Human beings have the ability to create a harmonious structure but can be as destructive just as quick.
I wonder if this “Foodie” culture that we have created in the West is a healthy mode of living. We rationalize this culture as humans always do because we are helping the economy and the many restaurants that pop up but is it healthy?
Is it?
Constantly stuffing our faces with food no matter how inviting it may feel is probably not a good thing. How many times have we had a turkey dinner and felt sleepy afterwards.
Our brains were somewhat nullified.
And this is the issue. It pacifies us. Makes us inherently weaker. Makes us softer.
The first world so to speak is soft. We are made soft. We are spoiled.
Could food be part of the problem? We overindulge. Once the overindulging process takes place it slows us down. Makes us weaker and dulls our brain.
